ANDEAN is an award-winning design studio focused on collectible design, and high-end residential seating and decor collections. The studio combines Ecuadorian artisanship and iconography with modern manufacturing processes.

The studio’s objective is to develop the notion of equatorial design to enhance the Andean material heritage. “Drink from the origin”, techniques, traditions, and materials of the region, to “transpire contemporaneity” through the forms and functions of our daily life. A past that projects us to the collective future of Andean talent and that enchants the world with our Latin American essence.

OUR APPROACH

ANDEAN’s practice is an exploration that highlights Ecuador's iconography and material culture. New items will be added to our ongoing collections every year, each bearing our equatorial design stamp and a distinct aesthetic. ANDEAN is a platform, not only for designers, manufacturers, or artisans but for all those who are committed to enhancing the future of equatorial design.

ALEJANDRO MOYANO

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

 

Alejandro Moyano, the founder of ANDEAN, earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Product Design from Pratt Institute in 2019. Fresh out of grad school, Moyano was invited to exhibit his work at the Dubai Design Week Grad Show and NYCxDesign’s Student Design Showcase Talks. His profound respect for skilled artisans and their esteemed role in preserving culture is the cornerstone of ANDEAN's ethos; to create a platform for designers, manufacturers, artisans, and all those committed to enhancing the future of “Equatorial” design.

In 2022, ANDEAN introduced its debut collection, PERFIDIA, at ICFF’s Wanted Design. This collection features high-end flat-pack furniture with bronze accents, drawing inspiration from Latin America's 1970s golden era. It received the 2022 DNA Paris Design Award and the 2022 Sit Furniture Award. Following this success, ANDEAN unveiled the SITIERA Collection, which focuses on seating and ornate mirrors inspired by the historic motifs of Quito. In 2023, the studio presented the ÍCONOS Collection at Salone Satelite, showcasing limited edition high-end home accessories crafted with bronze, hand-blown glass, and volcanic rock.
